Through training (teaching, miracles and prophecy), Jesus continues to develop his disciples while proving to them that He is indeed the Messiah, the Son of God.
- 7:1-23 — What defiles a person is what comes from the heart | Jesus exposes religious tradition (Corban) as an excuse to exercise a greedy heart. Religious traditions are bad, because they allow the exercise of an evil heart (pride, greed, stinginess, self-righteousness, compassionless) in the name of being pious.
- 7:24-37 — Jesus casts out demons and heals the blind—miracles that show He is the Messiah, the Son of God (Mark 1:1).
- 8:27-30 — Peter Confesses that Jesus is the Son of God after 2.5 yrs of following Him. Jesus immediately predicts his own death and resurrection, something the disciples do not understand (9:10), because they believe the Messiah should bring in the promised Kingdom (9:1).
